George Russell launches personal grandstand at Silverstone from 2027: When fans become the centre of F1 experience

George Russell has announced his personal grandstand at Silverstone, set to open from the 2027 season. The George Russell Grandstand will be located at Farm Curve, one of the fastest corners on the British Grand Prix circuit. The announcement was made official through Mercedes' official social media channels midweek. Three-day tickets include a fixed reserved seat, an official George Russell T-shirt delivered before race weekend, and access to exclusive experiences including the Drivers Inn, entertainment zones, F1 Fanzone, and the Silverstone Museum. "The grandstand is going to be really cool next year," Russell said in Mercedes' official video. "I've been wanting to do it for a number of years. When Lando went in, I was like, 'Ah, beat me to it!' But still it was such a special place. It's just great to almost give something back to the fans, do something cool, be part of the community, and bring different fans together." Russell chose Farm Curve over larger grandstands along the Main Straight. "There were other grandstands that were bigger that we could have chosen. But I wanted to choose that spot because you can see the most number of corners from that grandstand. You've got the first four corners. You'll see the race start, you'll see overtakes into Turn 3 and Turn 4. You'll see the pitlane exit as well. I think that's the best spot." Farm Curve is a high-speed corner where drivers reach peak speeds before braking into Copse Corner. The DRS zone before this corner creates regular overtaking opportunities, making it one of the most strategically significant points on the circuit. Russell recalled his first memory at Silverstone in 2026, aged 11, wearing a Red Bull jacket and cheering for Sebastian Vettel. "There is an image of me somewhere with this jacket over my chin with the foghorn, my hair down here, fully covering my ears and a bowl cut. That was my first memory." The personal grandstand model, pioneered by drivers like Lando Norris, represents a direct-to-fan approach that bypasses traditional team and circuit structures. Russell's choice prioritizes the racing experience over brand visibility, reflecting his personal philosophy of community over commercial gain.
